Abstract
This paper focuses on the phenomenon of urban society
that tends not to give place to women, especially Muslim women veiled. Such
conditions lead to the efforts of a group of Muslim women to create their own
space, known as the concept of feminine space. Advances in information
technology and communications make this movement gained momentum through the
presence of virtual media, which then led to communities of women hijab
(Hijabers Community). HC community through the women want to change the view
that the hijab that is synonymous with traditionality into something modern,
fashionable and dynamic. The author understands this phenomenon as they attempt
to get space in the urban society.
The author interviewed the women who became motor Hijabers Community groups, to find out how they describe themselves, how they perceive the surrounding environment, and how they view the relationship between them and other groups in urban society.

komunitas perempuan perkotaan berjilbab modis, yang mereka sebut “Hijabers Community”. Penulis memahami
fenomena ini sebagai sebuah upaya untuk menciptakan ruang bagi para muslimah
untuk menunjukkan eksistensinya sebagai bagian dari masyarakat urban.
